My Week in Books, Movies, and TV 3/25/22

Breaking news! I actually watched a movie this week! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a movie to talk about.

Movies

We watched The Adam Project on Netflix. It stars Ryan Reynolds as Adam Reed, a time-traveling fighter pilot who crashes lands at his childhood home in 2022. He teams up with his 12-year-old self to travel back in time again to find their father, set things right, and save the world.

I am a big Ryan Reynolds fan, so I like pretty much anything he does. The kid who plays the young version of him does a good job of acting like 12-year-old Ryan Reynolds. Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, and Mark Ruffalo are all good in their roles as his mom, wife, and dad. It had humor, action, and heart. I would recommend it to anyone.

TV

Most of this week has been watching TV with my daughter while she is home for spring break.

We finished the latest season of The Chase.

We finished season 6 of Legends of Tomorrow and now have all of season 7 to watch. It is still my favorite DC show.

We finished Around the World in 80 Days. I hope there is a second season, It was very good.

We watched the first two episodes of Welcome to Flatch. It is very dumb, but we enjoy it.

We watched the first episode of the American Song Contest. We enjoyed it and will watch more, but I have to wait until my daughter is home so we will be way behind.

We watched the first two episodes of Beyond the Edge on CBS, the celebrity Survivor-type show. I’m disappointed that one celebrity decided to go home after one night in the jungle.

Books

I read one book this week

Image from Goodreads

The 22 Murders of Madison May by Max Berry – Young real estate agent Madison May is murdered by a client at a showing. Reporter Felicity Barnes is assigned to cover the story. Felicity’s world changes when she spots the killer on the subway, he hands her something and vanishes. She soon discovers her world has shifted. No one remembers the murder of Madison May, her office is different, and she only has one cat instead of two. She soon discovers that she has traveled to an alternate world with the man who is on the trail of a killer who is murdering Madison May in every world.

The was one of the best books I’ve read this year. It might be why I have struggled to move on to a new book. It was that good. I loved that the traveling from world to world was messy and messed up worlds each time they did it It wasn’t a nice, easy trip over and back. You gave up your life as soon as you jumped. There was not going to be a totally happy ending for anyone. The story keeps you turning the pages. A very good book I highly recommend.

On Deck

We have the new Venom movie on DVD.

More catch-up on DVRed shows.

After a couple of starts and stops, I am reading Fear No Evil by James Patterson. I am determined to keep reading the Cross books even when they keep disappointing me. It is a nice, quick read to get me past the slump I hit after Madison May.

  1. Max Berry is such a creative novelist. I can’t wait to get to this one, but I have three books I need to finish firt. Ack! Maybe I have it as an audiobook, which means I can move it to the front of my to-listen list.
