Our Egypt Adventure: Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens

Our last two days in Luxor we left our place by 6:30 AM and headed out to beat the heat. It was actually rather pleasant at that time of the morning.

On our first day, we went to Valley of the Kings. You can visit three tombs with the general admission ticket. King Tut’s tomb was an extra ticket. We did buy the extra ticket.

We also stopped to see Hatshepsut Temple and the Colossi of Memnon.

We finished the day with a felucca ride on the Nile with a stop at Banana Island.

We watched a fire from our rooftop that night.

On our last day in Luxor, we went to the Valley of the Queens where once again you get three tombs with general admission but have to pay much more to go to Queen Nefertari’s tomb. We once again paid the extra amount as her tomb is one of the best preserved.

We were supposed to do a sunrise hot air balloon ride that morning, but the entire time we were there it was considered too windy to launch the balloon. I guess we will have to go back.

Tomorrow, I will do a general post of thoughts and observations about the trip.

  1. Absolutely stunning! What a great experience, although what a shame about the balloon ride – that would’ve been spectacular. As you say, you’ll have to go back! 🙂
