I love Christmas. I love the festive atmosphere. I love Christmas lights and Christmas trees. I love the time we spend with family. I love how the world seems a little kinder for a bit. I start looking forward to Christmas right after Halloween.
Then Christmas is over and the winter blahs hit.
The lights are down. The tree goes down.
It’s cold.
It’s dark.
I do have a winter birthday and I can look forward to all of my free birthday stuff, but we don’t do big birthday celebrations, so there is not an event to look forward to.
In the past, college basketball gave me something to look forward to. Now, Kentucky is terrible and the games aren’t fun to watch.
The NFL playoffs are here. I get one weekend of watching my team and then they will most likely be out.
I end up watching the Super Bowl mainly for the commercials.
I have a bad case of the winter blahs and only warmth and light will heal me.
I agree with this. Once Christmas is over, I get so sick of the cold and darkness. Even going from a car to a building is sucky. Canada is rough.

We do have some warm days here in Maryland, but it is still too dark too early.

I noticed when I visited my mom in November that it got dark so early in Washington. I like the light of Socal and AZ so much better.

I like visiting kentucky on the far west side of the time zone. It stays lighter much later there

Light really does affect people’s moods. I had a friend growing up in Seattle that had to get a special light to fight her Seasonal Affective Disorder. Eventually she moved to San Diego.

I just walked the dog. I keep telling myself that it will be lighter soon

Those Kentucky Wildcats are puzzling. Pretty stunned how their season is going, and the loss at home to South Carolina really shocked me, especially after the poor outing at Alabama over the weekend.

I’ve heard rumors of some locker room issues that could be affecting the play

You need to start a tradition of having big birthday celebrations in the family.

I think it’s a little late for that

Yup! The winter blues is tough! Seasonal depression is real! Try and create moments of joy and events to look forward to throughout this time to keep your spirits high! Hang in there 🙂

I 100% agree. Christmas is so nice. It’s just so warm, fuzzy, and toasty. I love everything about it, but once it’s over…
I try not to think about it, otherwise my mood would be way worse. I have a friend who posted on IG that there are 63 days before spring arrives. LOL. We’re almost there!

I keep reminding myself that we are only a couple of months away from spring and warmer, lighter days
