My Week in Books, Movies, and TV 9/16/22

I was about to give up on this one today, but it seems I have a few minutes before we leave for our next destination. This might be the last thing I post until Monday.

Movies

We watched Thor: Love and Thunder on Disney Plus. I love all things Marvel and Thor is one of my favorites, so I’ve been looking forward to this one. It didn’t disappoint. It had everything I wanted in a Thor movie. Action, comedy, and resolution of a love story. I’m glad they didn’t take the easy way out with the fate of one character. I loved it.

TV

I watched and reviewed Monarch.

We watched some Password and 8 Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown.

TV viewing was limited this week since I only had three nights at home. One was reserved for watching football. One was Thor and one was getting ready to leave.

Books

I finished one book this week.

Upgrade by Blake Crouch – Logan Ramsay is an agent working for the government fighting gene editing. He is doing so to atone for the sins of his mother, scientist Miriam Ramsay who caused the death of millions with a miscalculated experiment. Logan is breaching a house during an investigation when a bomb explodes and fills him with a virus that rewrites his genes. He is becoming stronger, smarter, and faster. Logan goes on the run to discover who did it and why.

I usually enjoy Crouch’s books. I could not get into this one. It took me forever to read. I just didn’t care about Logan as a character and then we got less human as the book moved forward. a thriller is hard when you don’t care if the main character survives. There was a lot of action and science, but I found it dry and dull.

On Deck

The fall TV season starts this week so I will be watching a lot of new shows. I’m looking forward to Quantum Leap on Monday.

We will keep watching House of the Dragon.

I will try to find time to watch the last two episodes of Tales of the Walking Dead.

I am currently reading Hokuloa Road by Elizabeth Hand.
