I have the premium plan here on WordPress. I can use WordAds to earn from people reading the blog. It is pretty much useless at the level of interaction I have here.
I also pay a yearly fee for the theycallmetater.com name. That is a cost I think is worthwhile.
Both of these are scheduled to renew at the end of this month. I’m starting to consider if I should cancel the renewal and go back to the basic free plan. My other option is to switch over to Blue Host or a similar place so I have more options when it comes to ads and such.
I don’t think I will ever make more than a couple of bucks a month with writing which is why reverting to the free site seems like the best option. When I was working, I felt like paying $99 a month for something I enjoy was worth it even if I was never successful. Now, it seems like an unnecessary extravagance.
I also pay the $5 a month membership fee at Medium. I make that back each month with my earnings with a little left over. I will keep paying that until I get to a point where I’m not covering my expenses. That shouldn’t happen though. It seems pretty easy to make at least $5 a month over there.
I will keep writing no matter what. I’ve been blogging here for years and it won’t end over the decision to revert to a free blog and lose my domain.
I pay for this because of lack of space. Frankly, I’m too lazy to research other options…

I forgot about the space issues. I’ve generally been too lazy to research other options, but now I think I might make the effort.

It’s not in my plan for 2022, but I’ll reevaluate in January

I have a paid plan because I don’t want unwanted ads to be inserted into my posts. Especially when the ad is for something that I don’t endorse.

That makes sense

I would definitely research other options. I use Blogger, which I like, but I have no idea whether there’s a payment option. I’m so casual a blogger, I don’t recall whether I have made any posts this year. I’m also very random and occasional on Medium.

I probably should have researched it earlier, but I was lazy.

I have ads on too but I’ve never seen any money. I’ve thought about switching to different web hosting service but haven’t acted on it.

They only pay out word ads once you get to $100. I’m not even halfway there

I thought WordPress dumped the free option
