I don’t generally need to go elsewhere to get solitude. Once the kids were older and started sleeping in, I’ve always had alone time in the morning while everyone else is asleep. Now that there are only two of us in the house I get a lot of solitude. I’m pretty much alone from the time I wake up until 6 pm.
If I do feel the need to go elsewhere:
When it is warm I’ve started going to the local nature preserve to walk.
I’ve taken my book and coffee to the fountain area outside of our community center.
Pre-pandemic I would sit at Panera with coffee, a pastry, and my book.
The solitude can be easier when you change your scenery.
True solitude for me is getting out of my house

For me, it’s usually the gym. It’s just me, the iron, and the music. With the gyms closed right now, it’s my bedroom where I’m super lazy.

As someone who also spends most of their days at home alone, I agree that getting out of the house for solitude seems to work best.
