I was waiting this morning expecting CW to announce their schedule. I knew they were having a simple press conference instead of the normal bells ad whistles. I missed that it is next week instead of today. So, I will now take a look at the schedule as it is so far. I know that in the day of DVRs and streaming it doesn’t matter as much what is against what, but ratings still matter when it comes to renewal. So, here is a night by night look and some thoughts.
Sunday
ABC – Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Supermarket Sweep, The Rookie
CBS – The Equalizer, NCIS: LA, SEAL Team/SWAT
FOX – The Simpsons, Great North, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy
NBC – Sunday Night Football
All existing shows with an audience. I expect these will all be OK. I am worried about SWAT being moved here and I’m still mad they are starting SEAL Team here and then moving it to streaming. I will probably be watching football.
Monday
ABC – Dancing With the Stars, The Good Doctor
CBS – Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, NCIS, NCIS Hawaii
FOX – 911, The Big Leap
NBC – The Voice, Ordinary Joe
ABC and CBS go with known franchises. FOX and NBC each have a new show. The Big Leap looks good. I hope it makes it. I’m predicting Ordinary Joe will be in danger of a quick cancellation.
Tuesday
ABC – The Bachelorette, Queens
CBS – FBI, FBI International, FBI Most Wanted
FOX – The Resident, Our Kind of People
NBC – The Voice, La Brea, New Amsterdam
I have not seen a trailer for any of the new shows here. Based on descriptions, I think both La Brea and Our Kind of People might struggle and be in danger of getting a quick axe. Queens has a good lead in and some names that will draw people in. FBI International benefits from the franchise.
Wednesday
ABC – The Goldbergs, The Wonder Years, The Conners, Home Economics, A Million Little Things
CBS – Survivor, Tough as Nails, CSI
FOX – The Masked Singer, Alter Ego
NBC – Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD
Not a lot new here. I think all three new shows will last. People who watch Masked Singer will stick around for Alter Ego. Wonder Years benefits from placement and the name. CSI has the same benefit.
Thursday
ABS – Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, Big SKy
CBS – Young Sheldon, United States of Al, Ghosts, B Positive, Bull
FOX – Thursday Night Football
NBC – Law and Order: For the Defense, Law and Order: SVU, Law and Order: Organized Crime
This looks like a safe night. The only one I worry about it Ghosts because it is the only new show against Grey’s and Law and Order. I hope it make it. I liked the teaser.
Friday
ABC – Shark Tank, 20/20
CBS – SWAT(for a while), Magnum PI, Blue Bloods
FOX – WWE Smackdown Live
NBC – Blacklist, Dateline
Another safe night with all established shows in normal time slots.
Saturday
All reruns and football
I predict, Ordinary Joe, Our Kind of People and La Brea will be canceled early. The rest should make it a full season.
The Big Leap, La Brea, and Ghosts look interesting to me. Now if I can remember to try to watch any of them. I’m depending on you to prompt us when the new season starts. Hahahahahaha.
