My Week in Books, Movies, and TV 5/7/21

Here we are in May already. The TV season will be over soon and I can maybe clear some space on the DVR. I’m hoping there will be normal network upfronts this year. I missed that last year. Warning for newer readers here – if there are network upfronts there will be several days of posts about the announced fall network TV schedules. On to the recap.

Movies

We did not watch a new movies this week. I can’t remember many old movies I watched this week. My daughter was home over the weekend so we spent our time watching TV shows we saved for her. I did have The Internship on in the background one day this week. I know it didn’t get great review, but I really like it. I’m sure I spent time watching another random movie at some point, but I can’t remember what it might have been.

TV

I watched a lot of TV this week. We finally watched the last few episodes of Superstore. It was a a satisfying ending to one of the best comedies TV has given us recently. The first episode of Legends of Tomorrow was on Sunday night. It is our favorite of the Arrowverse shows, so we were happy to be able to watch it while she was here. It’s a very fun show. We watched a few episodes of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. We watched an episode of The Chase. We always want the Chaser to win. I’m not sure that is the intention. Other shows I watched – Kung Fu, 911 Lone Star, Grey’s Anatomy. The Masked Singer, Big Sky, and more I can’t recall at the moment.

Books

I finished one book this week.

Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey – Set in the future – Esther runs away when her best friend, Beatriz, who she was in love with is executed for possessing unauthorized material. Esther is supposed to marry the man who was engaged to Beatriz. She stows away in the wagon of the Librarians and discovers there is more to the Librarians than she expected. It is a nice, short book. It still took me a while to read it. I’m just in a reading funk right now. I did enjoy the book and would recommend it.

I also stopped reading another book this week. I’m having issues getting into the book I’m reading now. My daughter loved it and wants me to read it. I just need to get past this funk somehow.

On Deck

I have no movies from the library. I do want to watch Without Remorse on Prime soon. I loved the book and I like Michael B Jordan. Greenland is on HBO tomorrow night. We might watch it. TV will be more catching up on shows to make space on the DVR. I will watch SNL tomorrow night. I don’t get the uproar of Elon Musk hosting. If you don’t like him, just don’t watch. It’s pretty simple. I’m currently reading Deadly Education by Naomi Novik.
