My Week in Books, Movies, and TV 4/10/20

I’m pretty much in the same space I was last week. Struggling to focus on reading. Screen always on but not necessarily really watching anything. Here’s the week:

Movies – We did finally watch Knives Out. I really liked it. Good cast. Good story I’m glad  I finally got to it. We discovered our daughter had never seen Pretty Woman and it was on Freeform, so I recorded it and we watched it with her. I was surprised at how much I still liked it.

TV – We finally watched the final season of Madam Secretary. We loved that show. I’m sad it is over, but the ending was well done. We also watched the series finales of Schitts Creek and Modern Family. So many favorites ending. Also, a lot of early season finales and shows reach the end of the stuff they filmed before production was shut down. I started watching Community on Netflix. Not sure why I didn’t watch when it was on, It is the type of show I would usually watch.

Books – I finished three books this week. Hi Five by Joe Ide, the latest in the IQ series. I’m not sure if it was weaker than the rest of the series or if my lack of focus was the issue, but I didn’t like it as much as the others. I also finished Bluebird Bluebird by Atticus Locke. It was very good It is about a black Texas Ranger who ends up investigating two deaths in a small town in Texas: A black lawyer from Chicago and a local white woman. Are they connected? Did the same person kill them both? I loved it and will be reading the next in the series. Finally, I read Giant Days v 1. It is a graphic novel about three college women. It was OK. Not sure I will read more.

On Deck – Maybe this is the week we finally watch Ford v Ferrari or Uncut Gems. We will probably watch more Community. I am reading The Chaos of Now by Erin Jade Lange.
