It’s been a weird week. It started with my hermit days and ended with everything but my library closing down. It makes it hard to concentrate with everything going on. Reading decreased and screen time went up.
Movies – I attempted to watch The Farewell while home alone. I saw most of it. I enjoyed the part of it I saw. The problem was I started way too late and had trouble staying awake. I know movies put me to sleep. I was alone and I got too comfortable on the couch. Rookie mistake on my part.
TV – I did watch a lot of TV while I was home alone. My DVR is still at a crisis stage and I watched all of the shows I watch alone. I did watch some more of The Outsider. I find it hard to care. It is very slow and kind of boring. I liked the book a lot more than I’m liking the TV show. I’m glad I spent time watching basketball last weekend. I didn’t know at the time that it was the last time I would watch college basketball this year, This is when I usually spend hours each day watching college basketball. It will be a sad month without it. At least Kentucky won their last game in dramatic fashion.
Books – I finished one book. It was The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie for my book club at work. I know people love Agatha Christie. I know people love Poirot. I just never really like them that much. She does a good job with the mystery. I didn’t know who the killer was until the reveal. I just didn’t enjoy getting there. I guess I need more mayhem and blood.
On Deck – I have a ton of movies at home. I really need to be quarantined to watch them all. At least my family will have plenty of movies to watch while I’m away picking up germs to bring home, I know for sure we will end up watching Frozen 2 and Knives Out. I want to make sure to watch Uncut Gems. The rest might go back unwatched. With my daughter home and no college basketball, we will have plenty of time to watch all of the TV shows backed up on the DVR. I assume I will eventually concentrate enough to finish the book I’m reading. It is American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. I like it. I know there is controversy around it, but it is a well-written book.
Check back next week to see if I’m still alive and reading and watching.
