Creature of Habit

I complain a lot about my family wanting to do the same things over and over and eat at the same places all the time, but I have to admit that I am very much a creature of habit. This morning reinforced that as I was thrown out of my normal routine. The following is my normal morning routine:

Wake up around 6am

Let the dog out

Make my first cup of coffee while looking at the day’s memories on Facebook

Turn on the TV and tune in to WBALTV news(which will change over to The Today Show at 7)

Download the print edition of the Washington Post to read while drinking my coffee and watching the news

Make and drink and second cup of coffee while writing a mediocre blog post

Eat a bowl of cereal

Get ready for work

Make my lunch

Leave for work

My daughter has been on a weird “go to sleep and wake up early” routine lately so this morning she was awake when I got up. I was able to watch a little of the news before I handed the remote to her and we watched several episodes of Parks and Rec instead. I still read the newspaper and had my coffee, but I didn’t write until later because I find it hard to write a post when others are in the room. I think I will be off the rest of the day because my morning routine was altered, but since I have only a month left before she moves out I will welcome any break in routine with my daughter.

  1. And it’s good to break the routine every once in a while. I too am a creature of habit, at least when it comes to my morning time. When I don’t follow it, I find the rest of the day surprising sometimes. Hahahahahaha.
